Ondo Poly Rector commissions new faculty building, commends Akeredolu


The Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Dr. Gani Ogundahunsi has commissioned the construction of a faculty building for the Faculty of Applied Sciences as well as a 250-twin lecture theater.

Speaking on Wednesday, 25th January, 2023, during the commissioning of the two buildings sponsored by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Dr. Ogundahunsi thanked God for using TETFund to bring about the long-held desire of a befitting faculty building for one of the institution's oldest faculties. He lauded the agency for this and its' other Interventions.


Noting that the buildings are now operational, the rector charged both staff and students to maintain the facilities and never allow anything bad to happen to them.

He also advised the institution's staff to constantly develop themselves as that would contribute significantly to the development of the institution.


Speaking further, he commended the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotomi Akeredolu for his commitment to education and improved funding to the Institution.

Earlier in his remarks, the Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences, Mr. Taiwo Olatunji said it was on record that the faculty was adjudged the best faculty in the institution during the tenure of Dr. Ogundahunsi as Dean of the faculty. He averred that it was not unexpected that the faculty got a faculty building through TETFund Interventions also during his tenure as Rector of the citadel of learning.


He noted that the faculty had come a long way having started with just two departments and grown to eight departments. He saluted the huge contributions of the Rector to the development of the faculty.

The faculty building complex consists of 66 academic offices and 30 laboratories and classrooms. The second building features twin 250 capacity lecture theaters combined with six offices.
