The Assistant Commander General of Narcotics(ACGN) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA), Mr Parah Bawa, has tasked personnel of the agency to take dedication and hard work as their guiding principles.
Bawa, who is an outgoing Zonal Commander of NDLEA, ,Zone J , made the call during his retirement ceremony on Tuesday at NDLEA’s office in Akure.
The Zone J comprises Ondo and Ekiti States NDLEA Commands.
He said that for any personnel to make a headway in the paramilitary agency, one must determine to be diligent and dedicated with fear of God to one’s schedules of duty.
According to him, challenges are expected to arise but such challenges must be faced squarely.
“Challenges are normal but ability to overcome is what matters. Face challenges squarely and be determined to be successful in life.
“ Be committed to your schedules of duties and assignments and have fear of God. These are my guiding principles.
“Once they understand the job and carry on their schedules of duty, they don’t have anything to fear,” he stated.
He promised that he would continue to contribute his own quota to development and repositioning of the country.
The outgoing zonal commander noted that he felt fulfilled to have retired meritoriously having clocked 60 years in age, thanking God for life and health to have sailed through all hurdles in the course of the service.
In his remarks, the Ekiti State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Anthony Ariyo, described Bawa as a great mentor to be emulated.
Ariyo recalled that he first worked with Bawa in Kano in 1995, stating that he was a nice man as well very strict when it had to do with obeying the rules and regulations of the NDLEA.
“He is a compassionate person; he doesn’t like people to suffer. He will try his utmost best to solve people’s problems if approached.,” he said.
He asked the NDLEA personnel to learn diligence, hard work and compassion from the retired zonal commander.
Similarly, the Ondo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Raji Mumini, described the retired NDLEA officer as an amiable, knowledgeable person, who took government job wholly as his own.
“ I have said it many times that if all of us take government job as our own, Nigeria will be a Colorado.
“ When things are going right, he becomes very happy as if it’s his business flourishing and if otherwise, he becomes unhappy as if all his investments have gone down.
“So, that is kind of person he is: amiable, loveable, knowledgeable and above all very dedicated,” he stated.
