Gbenga Edema, the immediate past Ondo State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and governorship aspirant in the state, on Friday hailed the appointment of Pius Akinyelure as the new Board Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).
According to Edema, the appointment of Akinyelure, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, has generated widespread optimism and raised expectations for the future of the NNPC.
While emphasising that the appointment was a significant step towards enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the NNPC, the governorship aspirant stressed that Akinyelure's vast experience and expertise in the sector will bring about positive changes and contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Edema, a lawyer and former lawmaker, highlighted Akinyelure's outstanding contributions in his past endeavours, maintaining that his appointment will herald a new era of transparency, accountability, and sustainable growth for the NNPC.
The former NDDC representative also emphasised the importance of strong leadership at the NNPC, considering the crucial role the company plays in Nigeria's economy.
