Aiyedatiwa applauds ODIRS for effective, results-driven approach


Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had commended the Ondo State Internal Revenue Services (ODIRS) for its structured and results-oriented approach, appreciating the management and staff for their efforts.

Aiyedatiwa made this known at the Elizade University (EU) Tax Club Dinner, titled 'Evening Deduction 2024,' held at the State Internal Revenue Learning Center in Akure, the state capital.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, Aiyedatiwa praised the event's organizers, noting its role in educating Nigerians on the significance of paying taxes. Despite current economic challenges, he stressed the need for the government to enhance tax revenue for state and national development.

Aiyedatiwa highlighted the importance of finding new, taxpayer-friendly methods of tax collection, stating, "Tax is crucial for national development, as essential as blood is to the human body. This event reinforces our dedication to effective tax administration and raises awareness of taxpayers' responsibilities."
Dr. Tolu Adegbie, Chairman of ODIRS, represented by Mr. Oluwasegun Enikuomehin, Director of Personal Income Tax, called for government diversification beyond oil dependence. 

He urged the EU Tax Club to concentrate on practical tax issues, highlighting the importance of educating young professionals who can advocate for tax compliance.

Elizade University Tax Club President, Olaoluwumi Jimoh, expressed gratitude for the event's success, reflecting on the insights gained from studying tax law and her commitment to addressing challenges in tax collection, such as evasion and avoidance.
