Man, 28, docked for allegedly stealing car


A 28-year-old man, Jimoh Sanni, was on Thursday brought before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing a car.

Sanni of no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 6, at about 4.45 p.m., at Samonda area, Ibadan.

Amusan said the defendant and others at large, conspired to steal a Toyota Camry car worth N1, 280,000 belonging to Oyetunde Abdullahi.

He said the defendant also stole Abdullahi’s cell phone worth N100,000 and N500,000 cash.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The court president, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1.5 million with two sureties in like sum.

Yusuf held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant and provide three years tax clearance.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until Aug. 23, for hearing. (NAN)
