No fewer than 300 residents of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, have received free medical treatment from Tolu Oriyomi and Foluso Adeola Foundation (TOFA).
TOFA, a non-governmental organization dedicated to charity and community care, held its annual outreach on Thursday at the Okusa Community Healthcare Centre in Akungba Akoko.
Veracity.com.ng reports that during the exercise, four doctors and five nurses attended to residents, providing diagnoses and distributing medication to treat their ailments.
Speaking at the Healthcare Centre, Chief Tolu Oriyomi expressed displeasure over the numerous deaths of individuals who lacked the resources to monitor their health, emphasizing TOFA's commitment to eradicating diseases in the community.
Oriyomi, a renowned Philanthropist, stressed that the healthcare program would significantly improve the health of the residents in Akungba Akoko.
He stated, "This program is an annual medical outreach conducted by the TOFA Support Foundation. The aim is to raise medical awareness among our people about basic health issues such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar, tuberculosis, and other related ailments."
"We have observed that many people collapse and die suddenly, with some developing strokes and other serious diseases," he added.
While speaking with our correspondent, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Felicia Orunpekun, praised TOFA for providing free medical treatment to residents.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation to TOFA for organizing this medical outreach. For years now, it has been an annual event where we are always given free medication," she stated.
“We pray that God will continue to bless the families of Tolu Oriyomi and Foluso Adeola for their kind gestures.”
However, other beneficiaries hailed the kind gesture and earnestly prayed for the Foundation.
