A 27-year old trader, Michael Okor, was on Thursday, arraigned before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ibadan, over alleged cultism and illegal possession of jack knife.
Okor, a phone accessory dealer, whose address was not given, is being charged with illegal possession of weapon, unlawful society and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan told the court that the defendant committed the offences at about 2.00p.m on July 7, at The Polytechnic Ibadan.
Amusan said that the defendant unlawfully carried a jack knife with the intent to commit harm against members of the public.
He further said that the defendant unlawfully belonged to Aye confraternity, a proscribed organisation, and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 80, 64(a) and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Court President, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 14, for hearing.(NAN)
