High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan, Secretary of the Delta State Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), has congratulated the newly inaugurated executive of the Ijaw ethnic nationality chapter of HOSTCOM in Delta State.
The new leadership, led by Comrade Kingsley Ikiere as Chairman, Patrick Irou as Vice Chairman, and Godwin Ozugbo as Secretary, was commended by Lamienghan for their commitment to advancing the interests of the Ijaw people.
Speaking in Warri, Lamienghan encouraged the leadership to remain steadfast and focused on their mission, stressing the importance of strengthening support for the Ijaw nation and for Delta State as a whole.
He emphasized that unity among the Ijaw members of HOSTCOM would be crucial in propelling the organization forward, creating a stronger platform for delivering the benefits of oil revenue to oil-producing communities across the state.
Lamienghan also expressed his concerns about the pressing challenges facing Nigeria, particularly the economic struggles and the plight of rural areas.
He called on all HOSTCOM members to work together to tackle these issues.
Reflecting on Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary, Lamienghan remarked, “Nigerians, in truth, marked the 64th Independence Anniversary with pain. I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pay attention to the grievances of protesting Nigerians and implement the necessary changes that will improve the lives of the masses.”
He further criticized the government's approach to handling protests, stating that using force, such as tear-gassing or imprisoning protesters, would not offer lasting solutions and could instead deepen division and disunity within the nation.
This statement underscores High Comrade Lamienghan’s unwavering commitment to representing the interests of oil-producing communities and ensuring that their voices are heard both at the state and national levels.
