High Chief Wellington Bobo, the Oroupawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, has strongly endorsed Ambassador Dr. Godknows Igali as the newly elected National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), expressing confidence in his capacity to advance PANDEF’s mission and bring transformative progress to the Niger Delta region.
Dr. Igali was elected following a decisive vote at PANDEF’s General Assembly held on October 24, 2024, in Port Harcourt, succeeding Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien.
Speaking from Warri, Delta State, High Chief Bobo described Ambassador Igali as a respected leader whose distinguished service includes his role as Nigeria's Ambassador to Scandinavian countries. “Dr. Igali embodies the integrity and seasoned leadership PANDEF requires at this pivotal time,” he stated. “His vision and experience make him well-suited to elevate PANDEF’s goals and drive its initiatives forward.”
High Chief Bobo underscored Ambassador Igali’s vast experience and voiced confidence in his ability to steer PANDEF with distinction. He urged Igali to work closely with key figures like Chief Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, the Presidential Amnesty Administrator, to ensure successful progress on PANDEF’s 16-Point Agenda—an action plan addressing critical challenges in the Niger Delta.
Expressing optimism for PANDEF’s future under Dr. Igali’s leadership, High Chief Bobo asserted, “The organization has chosen a leader who truly fits the role.” He highlighted the need for committed efforts to alleviate the region's longstanding neglect, appealing to President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritize development in the Niger Delta.
“The Niger Delta has waited long enough for equitable development,” High Chief Bobo emphasized. “Any measures from President Tinubu’s government that expedite progress for our communities are highly anticipated.”
He called upon leaders and stakeholders to join the development efforts led by Ambassador Igali and Chief Otuaro, with renewed vigor and dedication, to promote the Niger Delta region’s advancement and, ultimately, the nation’s growth.
Summing up, High Chief Bobo said, “PANDEF’s leadership transition under Ambassador Igali signals a new chapter that calls for unity and commitment in tackling the Niger Delta’s challenges and fostering sustainable growth for the region.”
