Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring the successful completion of federal road projects within the state.
He emphasized the vital role infrastructure plays in driving economic growth and development.
The governor made these remarks during the visit of the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, to Ondo State on Thursday.
The visit was part of the second interactive session concerning the state’s segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. The meeting, held at the Government House in Akure, followed an earlier stakeholders' discussion on October 31, 2024.
Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the increased federal presence in Ondo State, highlighting key infrastructural developments such as the Ore-Ondo-Akure dualisation project, the federal teaching hospital, and the newly established aviation school.
“In recent times, we have witnessed significant federal projects in our state, including the Akure-Ore Dual Carriageway, the Akure-Ado Ekiti Dual Carriageway, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Akure,” he stated.
He underscored the importance of completing these initiatives, noting their potential to enhance economic activities within Ondo State and the South-West region. Additionally, he urged the federal government to support critical projects such as the Ondo Deep Sea Port and measures to curb the Ayetoro sea incursion.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the Minister of Works that his administration would provide a conducive environment for the smooth execution of these projects.
“We remain fully committed to ensuring the completion of these projects for the benefit of our people. The Ondo State Government will continue to offer unwavering support to see them through,” he affirmed.
During his address at the stakeholders’ meeting, Engr. Umahi provided updates on the preparations for the execution of the 71km stretch of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway within Ondo State.
He acknowledged the state government and its people for their cooperation, assuring that all necessary steps for the project’s execution had been taken.
Umahi also lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for prioritizing infrastructure development, promising that all federal road projects in Ondo State would be fast-tracked. Additionally, he assured that the federal government would soon focus on the Aiyetoro shoreline protection initiative.
