Akoko Youth Forum to recognize Late Adefarati, T.B. Joshua, Rufus Giwa for their lasting legacies

The Akoko Youth Forum has announced plans to pay tribute to three distinguished sons of Akoko—His Excellency Adebayo Adefarati, Prophet T.B. Joshua, and Chief Rufus Giwa—for their remarkable contributions to the region’s growth and development. 

These icons left behind legacies of leadership, philanthropy, and economic advancement that continue to impact lives today.

Adebayo Adefarati: A Visionary Leader

Born in Akungba Akoko, Adebayo Adefarati (1931–2007) was a politician dedicated to the progress of Ondo State. As Governor from 1999 to 2003, he championed free education, rural development, and infrastructure expansion.

His administration focused on improving road networks, electrification, and access to quality education, ensuring a better future for young people. Known for his integrity and selfless service, Adefarati remains a symbol of visionary leadership in Akoko.

Prophet T.B. Joshua: A Spiritual and Humanitarian Icon

Temitope Balogun Joshua (1963–2021), hailing from Arigidi Akoko, gained global recognition as a religious leader and philanthropist. Through The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), he touched millions of lives with his teachings, humanitarian aid, and outreach programs. 

His generosity extended to widows, students, and disaster victims, leaving a legacy of compassion and community empowerment. Even in death, his impact continues to be felt worldwide.

Chief Rufus Giwa: A Pillar of Economic Growth

Born in Okeagbe Akoko, Chief Rufus Giwa (1942–2003) was a renowned chartered accountant and corporate leader who played a key role in Nigeria’s economic sector. 

As a former Chairman of Odua Investment Company Limited, he contributed significantly to business expansion and job creation. His legacy endures through Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, which continues to equip young Nigerians with essential skills for the future.

Honoring Their Contributions and Inspiring Future Generations

The upcoming recognition event is not only a celebration of these individuals’ achievements but also a call to the younger generation to uphold the values of leadership, service, and dedication to community development.
