Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has directed the immediate suspension of all political appointees and officeholders in the state.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator confirmed that the decision was made based on the authority vested in Ibas by President Bola Tinubu.
The suspension affects the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, all commissioners, board members, agency heads, and officials of commissions and parastatals, including Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.
The affected officials have been instructed to hand over their duties to Permanent Secretaries in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies. Where a Permanent Secretary is unavailable, the highest-ranking Director or Head of Administration will assume leadership.
Details later.
